row by row quilt finish from Making A Lather

As part of my rainbow scrap challenge goals for 2020, I bought a new pattern called row by row. I worked on each color through the year. By the end of the year, I had all the rows sewn. I had the top ready in November of 2020. I really like how bright and happy it turned out finished.

I finished quilting and binding it for my February One monthly goal. It is 80 x 80 and all made with scraps.

22 yards

I used a blue sheet for the back and a stripe for the binding that I did ...

One monthly goal from Making A Lather

I can't believe it is February already. We have been ill at our house for a spell. I am not feeling very perky. So, As I choose my one monthly goal, I need to keep it easy and still moves my quilting ahead. I decided I would add my rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy for 2020 to the finished pile. I used this pattern row x row . I  started in Jan 2020 with the color of the month. I had the top ready to quilt november 2020. But I have a backlog of quilts that need quilting. My ...

zigging from Making A Lather

I had one last row to do for the row by row quilt.  I dug out turquoise scraps and cut 3 1/2 inch hsts. I made the row, and, started joining rows.

I pieced the top, cut the back, and prepared the binding. It is waiting a turn on the longarm.

All ready to quilt

I am looking to finish webbing the Irish chain quilt at retreat today. I worked on it yesterday, and started webbing the top. I am a little worried that I am too nosy to be working on something that needs a little more attention ...

guild workshop from Making A Lather

Last Saturday, I taught a workshop for my guild, making the shine block and quilt. I am inspired by other's choices.

all pink jelly roll

really pretty Christmas jelly roll

fun Christmas jelly roll

I did get one row put together while the other's were sewing. But, I didn't get enough pictures of the other choices.

my costume - I was the only one

I made the orange cross blocks that I was missing for the row x row quilt and the rainbow scrap challenge. I am also missing a second turquoise row.

And, it is now, part ...

more yellow from Making A Lather

Boo

Hubby and I decided to make a pumpkin this year. Our hands won't do the whole carving bit.

I have the 2 yellow rows I need for my row x row quilt finished. Not too exciting, but, progress. It looks nice with autumn leaves.

And this is why we don't wash scraps....

I had to wash them, hubby found them in a bag in the garage. I don't know how they got there, or where I had them. They smelled musty and gross. Most of them were big pieces. but, there were smaller pieces, too. Now ...

red irish chain block from Making A Lather

The red blocks for my Irish chain quilt are ready, and, all I need are the yellows. I have worked on this quilt over the last two years for the rainbow scrap challenge. The first year, I did the 4 patches, and, this year, I am making the blocks.

This was a friend Linda's quilt - smith mountain morning -in red and brown. We took the Bonnie hunter class together in Lafayette. Mine was gray and yellow. I quilted hers in red.

I have started putting the joining the rainbow row x row quilt, and finished the 2nd red row ...

down country roads from Making A Lather

I am not sure why the first quilt I work on each month for the rainbow scrap challenge, is country roads. I guess because it is so easy to get started. I grab a few red 1 1/2 inch strips, stack them, cut them, and presto they are done. Nothing like instant gratification. There is a link at the bottom for the pattern.

I am sure I will be working on these next year.

I ran out of August before I ran out of purple projects to show. I made a purple row for my row x row quilt ...

a blue row from Making A Lather

This is the last blue Saturday for the rainbow scrap challenge. I am not really done with my projects, yet. Good thing, I still have time. I wonder what color I will be using next week...

I had the chance to make another blue row for the rainbow row x row I am making.
I prefer to cut my pieces oversized and trim. That way I can use a standard size cut.

I  have 6 rows ready out of 13.

I have started with the blues for putting words together for last year's rainbow quote quilt. I have a ...

row x row in green from Making A Lather

My favorite kind of green. The poppies came with the house 30 years ago, and they bring joy every year. We used to call the purple flower sweet william, but, we found out we were wrong, but, now, I can't remember the real name. They pop up wherever they want and smell so good.

The row x row quilt doesn't call for dark green, but, there are two rows of lime green. I did the first row in January. I decided to do the second row this month to move it along.

I like to sew it with ...

rsc row from Making A Lather

So glad to have a little bit of teal to brighten things up a bit. I worked on the rainbow row by row this week making a zigzag. the HSTs are 3 1/2 inches. And the first two I sewed together were wrong LOL. There is one more Saturday in March for the rainbow scrap challenge, and I am nearly done with what I want to get finished in teal.

I hope everyone is staying well and quilting.

orange cross block from Making A Lather

I didn't have very many orange squares, and the row x row quilt required 2 5/8 inch squares ( weird size for me). So I started cutting big chunks into 2 5/8 squares and 2 1/2 inch squares and whatever finished the scrap

The triangles called for strange sizes cut diagonally, but after doing one that way, I knew my accuquilt dies would work.

It needed a little trimming.

I only did one row this month, and will do the other orange row later, for the month of color that I don't need for the quilt ...

scrappy circles and stars from Making A Lather

I used an accuquilt die to cut drunkards path for the row by row quilt. I thought it would be easier to use the whole die in both green and white rather than cut individual pieces for the parts. The pattern calls for another row of green later, so, I can use the reverse with the leftovers from cutting this way.

I sewed 9 blocks at the retreat last week, and the two set for the ends of the row. The rest of the blocks were back at home waiting for their new friends.

On a whim, I had a ...

rainbow row by row from Making A Lather

I am at day 2 of my quilt retreat, and, I have been getting stuff done that I can share next week.
As part of the rainbow scrap challenge, I have been working on a row by row quilt. January and green is the color of the drunkard's path block.
I have them all cut and several ready to sew together, but it does take some time.

I found this cute pattern that uses 1 1/2 inch strips. It so happens that I have green 1 1/2 inch strips -what a surprise. The blocks are 4 1 ...

I have 7 scraptastic stars which doesn't make a quilt, yet.

And a new row by row pattern. And, January, we are starting with green and the hardest row.

And I want to work at putting my quote quilt together
